" Parents try to limit their kids' TV time in video game playing but is really hard to know exactly where to draw the line so. We didn't talk of one author who's helping parents find the balance in their daily lives."

" Your kids down in front of the TV can be a great way to keep them busy. If your busy cleaning the house or cooking dinner and one new book kids under fire says he does not the double but it is important find balance. In -- wrote this but kids under fire tell us about your new book. "

" What kids under fire let me say right away it's not about unplugging all together we live in the media world kids -- an immediate world. So it's more about about achieving balance in the home and teaching children how to be critical consumers of media. Teaching them how to grow up in the media world and irresponsible way so how you teach your kids to be responsible. Well it's the parents are overwhelmed their very busy. -- to set it down this Aggie Hurley is in TV's not Messi played and it's Messi who looked like weather and I think he's definitely. But it's very easy that's where the book so that parents would know it doesn't take much time watch what the kids are watching play what they're playing for just a short while. Use the kids media that litmus test -- to have in the -- tell us about the attack the litmus -- as a set of questions that you could sit down with your kids that empowers the kids to make decisions on their around about what's healthy media. And what isn't for them and as they grow up. Making these healthy choices just like you live feed them junk food yeah three emails a day don't let it snow let it nonetheless has don't go into their brain and be really molding them."

" And let's talk about that you know one. Controversial thing right now is violence on TV and in video games to your book address that."

" Absolutely. You know some of very tragic events like Colin buying. We talk about in the book and many more recent events are associated some of the perpetrators have been quoted as saying make copies of video game. Or they copied and TV show -- copy everything let's face it from winning a little they're gonna copy their -- they're not you love than me. And not pretend to be their dad. Secretly wondering why -- watching as you like to listen simultaneously with their playing and it only takes a short while and that's what I wanted to develop these steps for parents. One thing that's really interesting is you say used to TV as a great feeling gathering tool absolutely there is some really great things about especially TV but on media for the -- to pull the family together. We for example a big sports -- our house we can't live without very ESPN because we can't take all the kids to. He's not a professional gamer who can and that and the food in the travel expenses with that but we can have the friends ever pop popcorn and make and a healthy fun evening in her home so there are some great things are. Ohio it also say it's a window into their world when you watch some of the things they're watching it's like getting to know their friends."

" Mean that's very true and I think it's really important. How you mentioned using TV in the right way because so many people think they should let their kids watch TV at all but you also do is say that there are certain number of hours a week that a kid maybe should or shouldn't be a lot."

" Absolutely ring you know the American academy of pediatrics suggests no TV for children under the age of two. Because it allows the brain to develop naturally more interaction with mom and dad and they can touch and feel their world. That's very easily we're assume they're TV but don't let your viewers you know TV in the bedroom period outcome once and they get other but I think it -- I suggest. Different techniques in the book one being have -- no media day. Just unplugged for one day and that allows them to be creative and allows them to be -- and find out what then they continue with that day."

" All right I love you so much -- great tips there. TV is not the devil but finding balance very important in Jean's book kids under fire is available."

" Thanks so much CNN and you can check IDs book at Amazon.com and on her website you can get their bylaws. -- TV dot com and clicking the links tapped to be right."
