Valentine’s Day is definitely “HIP” to me, because it’s a special occasion due to the fact my daughter was born on that date (she was actually due Feb.7th), but the gracious Lord had her to come on Valentine’s Day.
Also, my husband asked me to marry him on that day-so I’m thankful that the day signifies LOVE all over the world.
Perks: I’m crafty, I love decorating around the house with pinks, reds and whites. Also, gives me a good reason to buy sweets for the whole family, send cards to distant family, dress up for my hunny bunny..and let the kids dress for the occasion.
It only comes once a yr. like any other holiday, why not have fun, and if your budget allows then hey-go all out! Peace.
For all those mama’s boys out there buying their mom’s flowers and cards, it is obvious, it’s all hype!
Or a day for a guy to think he’s earning brownie points.
I think it’s more romantic if it’s a random act of love not because everyone else says hey you have to do something on this day.
I think it’s a bit of both, but I love it anyway. The days are getting longer, my daphne is blooming, all is right with the world! And what better day to celebrate all that?
I believe that Valentine’s Day is more hip. I enjoy Valentine’s Day ,especially eating all the different chocolate candies. Being with your “Lovely Sweetheart” and sharing each other kisses is what Valentine’s Day is all about.
It is total hype. If you truly love someone, there is no need for a special day to say so.
HYPE; but so what? While I’m not always successful, I try to make everyday VALENTINE’S DAY at our house. VALENTINE’S DAY itself is just a wee bit of icing on our cake.
It’s always wonderful (or hip) to have a special day to remind people how much you love them, and to be reminded of how much you are loved, as well.
Some guys, like my husband, don’t need a special day set aside to do that. They show their love every day in very creative ways.
Some guys (and gals) need an extra little nudge or prompt, so it’s good to have a day on the calendar that dictates romance.
The store ads and TV commercials go a little over the top with hype,
but it is good business to cash in on another holiday. Just like Christmas, it’s up to each couple to ignore the commercialism and to make Valentine’s Day (or Valentine’s weekend) a fun, sacred, and intimate celebration of the love they share.
I think it is mostly hype. Too many times it seems to force actions that should come natural for men and women in a loving relationship. If you are in love be romantic any day of the year. Spontaneously! Works wonders!
I believe that it is a little of both. A little like all of the holidays that can make the retailers more money.
Don’t get me wrong though, I do very much enjoy being treated special. I mean come on I am a W-O-M-A-N after all. Just a little tainted by all the bye this and bye that. I believe we all have our own mind and can make our own decisions on what we want. And can relate that want to our mates or whoever as far as that go’s.
I can remember when these “special” days were allot more less complicated. Which there wasn’t so much stress associated with holidays. The phrase “keep it simple silly” (acronym KISS:)
Hip! More so for the women than the men. We need to be appreciated if its only 1 day out of the year that it happens.
very hip. i love valentine’s day! it is one of my favorite days of the year. my husband treats me like a star.
