YES! YES! YES! However, these (so called) reality shows – how really real are they? – and Jerry Springer will not go way until we stop watching them. I must confess though that my bride and I do watch one (1) “reality” show that we honestly consider to be REALITY as well as a TRUE and HONEST reflection of what is right, wrong, good and bad with our society today: HELL’S KITCHEN.
Oh my goodness, aren’t we all so weary of “reality tv”!! I long for the good old days when writers actually created plots and characters, and didn’t rely on cuss words or sex to make a story line. Oh to have shows such as “The Dick Van Dyke Show” again!! But we seem to have forgotten how to THINK anymore… Very sad commentary on our society.
Yes, there is too much reality TV! I think there needs to be a fine balance between the reality shows and what the show is really about. I think people are searching for something ‘real’ something that they can relate to – things that are everyday living – not made to look easy on tv because you have a whole crew and they really want things that are going to educate them in some way – give them value.
Interested in “my tv show idea”? Want to be the person who helps discover the next big idea? Coonect with me and we’ll talk!
Yes I think there is way too many reality shows. If they took off all of them there would probley not be enough tv to last 1 day of tv. Thats sad!!! I do not like them and I wish they would find another thing to replace them insted of thinking up more stupid ones to make.
Yes, Yes, and Yes unless your talking American Idol, America’s Got Talent, or Dancing with the Stars the rest of them are pure garbage (John & Kate + 8, Big Brother etc)
Hollywood writers have gone on strike. Not only do we no longer get decently written sitcoms, movies have followed suit. Competition is one thing, hiring nuts to act out their messed up lives is another.
I agree with a lot of the viewer comments. TV has gotten out of control. What happened to all of the FAMILY entertainment? 2 viewers made really good points. #1-Youth, who start out blank discs seeking programing, are exposed to WAY too much distructive behavior for pleasure and/or profit. Many adults place their own preferences ahead of the negative impact they truly have on our youth. #2-Life is tough enough for many of us. The last thing we want to do is watch it in TV (i.e.-court TV, wife swap, catch the cheater, Big brother…..AAAAAHH!) What ever happened to a good mystery to solve, family programing. You may have up to 1900 channels on your cable now that we’ve been forced in to getting (plus extra debt for an adapter we MUST now have) How many times have you scrolled through all those channels and still can’t find something good to watch?! Yes, I think there is way to much reality on tv! I have a real life and a lot of reality in my life. When I turn on the TV I want to be informed or entertained. I don’t watch the reality TV shows. I think they are mostly staged and put on’s anyway. Take them off and inform, teach, or entertain!
Yes!!! I don’t know why it is called “reality”. It is so far from real life, it isn’t even funny. It is revolting. It insults my intelligence! I don’t watch it at all. If I can’t find something better to watch, I turn the TV OFF and read a book!!!
I think there is an over saturation of Reality TV on the airways. I don’t view competition shows such as American Idol, Dancing With The Stars falling under the category of reality TV so those shows are fine. But away with shows like Kate Plus 8, Real Housewives, Wife Swap and the likes — please, enough is enough !!!
Positively. That stuff is UNreal, ridiculous, and uninteresting. What ever happened to the great drama and entertainment that used to be on TV? If nothing new is on that is interesting, I just watch reruns of old shows or movies.
Yes there is too many reality shows on television. I also agree with a lot of the other comments made by the other commentators who also say there is too much reality shows.
There is waaay too much reality television on the air today. The fact is, Reality shows are an extremely cost effective form of entertainment for networks to produce. It’s pretty simple, No actors, no writing teams, no big name directors or producers. They just throw some average Joe’s on TV and watch the magic happen.
It’s a silly and unimaginative form of television, and i can only hope that our American public will eventually wise up, and begin demanding at least some form of substance in our entertainment.
there is too much reality tv. Life is tough enough in our own families why do we want to watch other people messing up in theirs? If there were lessons to be learned, maybe, but for the most part, it is all drama and addiction to more drama…Why don’t we have more shows that show good people making good choices and teaching and learning from life? Because they don’t get ratings right?
I think there is way too much reality tv like everyone else and I also think they have way too many shopping networks. Those shows are on all the stations, and when you are one that cannot sleep all night there should be better things than the shopping network too watch. I don’t watch either one of those shows.
Reality tv is not reality. They are just acting. Can’t stand the crap.
Oh DEFINITELY YES! Truth is, there’s not much reality in Reality TV and I watch tv to ESCAPE everyday reality…..
Yes,there is entirely too much reality tv.What ever happened to family programming?
yes, yes, yes…way, way, way too much reality TV. Reality is all over the TV! Kids see TV as “reality” and mimmick it. I don’t understand the draw to them, I have watched The Biggest Loser because I need to lose weight & wanted some incentive. Get rid of all the REALITY TV that is NOT reality!
Yes, reality tv needs to be cut back. I used to watch Jon & Kate plus eight, but now I can’t stand to watch it. It seems that reality tv destroys people. Lets get back to what tv should be.
Yes, I think that we have entirely to much reality shows on the tv. I would like to see more family shows on tv. Some that are family orienented only. Thank you.
Yes, there is definately too much reality TV. Especially Jon & Kate Plus 8. I can’t even bring myself to watch it. The poor little kids in those Reality shows don’t have a voice in what goes on. Parents should spend quality (alone) time with their kids without all the cameras. I feel the only thing the parents in those shows, REALLY, care about is money.
Yes,First how real is it when you have people around you and you are only showing what you want people too see.I also think that it made TV not worth watching. The shows of the past were TV,not the fake shock factor of 2009. Sherry of North kingstown RI
Yes! Definately just too much reality tv! Some worse than others but their is slot of inappropriate exposure to things in life that should be kept behind closed doors!
Entirely too many reality shows on television. What happened to people getting out enjoying life? Instead we are forced to watch others live their lives on TV. They have no imagination to actually write shows. Please!!
Yes, I think that there is way to much reality on tv. It is a shame that our youth and kids are exposed to that much of it, especially when that is not how life and reality always is. John&Kate plus 8 is just rediculous. I do not see how DSS has not stepped in!
