My Schnauzer Update

A Miss Violet update–Well, last Monday she was spayed and returned home that afternoon groggy and lethargic—and not at all happy with me. How do I know? Everyone who came to visit her got a much warmer reception than I did! Read more

July’s Book of the Month

Meet Gigi Levangie Grazer, author of The Starter Wife and Queen Takes King.

She has previously written three novels including The Starter Wife, made into a mini-series on the USA network, starring Debra Messing, and Maneater a Lifetime mini-series starring Sarah Chalke from Scrubs.

Gigi also wrote the screenplay for Stepmom, the movie starred Julia Roberts and Susan Sarandon. She has written articles for Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar and Glamour. Her new book Queen Takes King, is in talks to open on the Big Screen. She lives in Los Angeles with her two children and three miniature dachshunds.

Read a synopsis of the book, Queen Takes King…

l_gigibookcoverGigi Levangie Grazer uses the perfect paradigm of a chess game to move her characters and plot in her feisty new book.

Jackson Power. Aggressive, ambitious, bullish, heir to millions, built his own Manhattan real estate empire.

Cynthia Hunsaker Power.  Elegant and Society’s darling. A former prima ballerina

Jacks has a stack of newspapers and photographs of himself, shaking hands with the most famous men and women of his generation. Here’s a man who’s always loved to see his name in ink. Until now. The press coverage of the Power silver anniversary party at the Waldorf takes the cake.

Jacks is caught hand in hand with Lara Sizemore, morning television star, exiting her Upper West Side apartment building that very same night.

“Let the Divorce Games begin.”

The People’s Billionaire vs. The Ballerina. It’s a battle of wits, charm and ego — neither side will go down without a fight.

New York is Where I’d Rather be.

Welcome back everyone,

I’m seriously considering trading my car in for an ark. It’s hard to get motivated with the continuous rain here in Connecticut—frustrating because every time I went to New York this I had the best weather. So while I was here in Westport I needed some fabulous fun rain activities to get me out of the depressing funk. I decided I might as well enjoy all the movies playing and activities that are available to me. With New York less than an hour away, last Friday I treated my CEO, Paul Mitchell, to the Broadway play 9 to 5. It just happened to be perfect weather that night in the city but regardless of what was happening outside I found some much-needed fun and excitement inside. The show was fabulous and transferred onto the Broadway stage perfectly. With only minor changes, 9 to 5 was very much like the original movie. This is a great show to take your friends, family or neighbors to see. You will love it—it is so cleverly done with great singing and dancing. Read more

My little girl Violet

100_4268Violet turns 28 weeks this Friday and has now shown me an interesting insight to her personality. She has a wonderful soft zipper case that she knows as “in your house” and will enter into it on command. This week while I was out she broke loose after gnawing away at the zipper and lining. What was once a perfect home no longer offers me a place to confine her. I returned home to discover every last toy scattered throughout the house, my robe over the sofa, gym sneakers in the office and the hall, my bed pulled and unmade—and the zippered house totally tattered and distorted. Could this be the work of one little schnauzer? Yup and her name is Miss Violet Von Schnorkenheimer.

A Head to Toe Makeover

Yesterday, I coordinated a day of beauty for my friend Lisa, starting with a light lunch followed by what I like to call “hair repair”. We ended our day with some good old fashioned shoe shopping. A head to toe make over, literally! Lisa wanted a new look because she is getting ready for a 20-year high school reunion; I thought it was best to do some highlights followed by a new haircut to complement her face and skin tone. Something with low maintenance with a big impact. Read more
